David Charles grew up living on the land from adolescents to adulthood.  Learning valuable skills like setting a trap line, tracking animals and navigation skills. This bore a deep spiritual connection to the earth and inspired his art all throughout his life. "Going to the bush" as David calls it is something he will always treasure and it shows in the intricate attention to each tuft of hair in his works.

David works with HB pencils and due to the slow meticulous process some pictures could take months before being complete.  He manages to do it all while being left handed.

David is a kind, loving compassionate elder in his community. Remaining dedicated to assisting youth and advocating for indigenous rights and land claims with government, when his health lets him.

After 70 years of being told he should share his art...
Now is as good of time as any.
